見ず知らずのアメリカ人から、突然、6つの添付ファイル付きのE-mailで、問い合わせがきました。隕石かどうか見てほしいと言うことのようです。写真で見たところ、内部が発泡しているのは確かなので、パン皮状火山弾のようにも見えますが、異常に膨らんでいます。ある種のテクタイトのようなものではないでしょうか。写真だけではよく判りません。誰か、コメントをお願いします。言っているようにチップでも送ってもらいましょうか。
I don't remember his name it been a long time ago. He removed a chip from it a lot bigger than I expiated and I not was pleased He was a geologist not a meteorologist but he was sure it was a meteorite . At that time ( before the internet ) I had no idea it could be so rare I thout most meteorite looked like this . But I have seen nothing like it on the net . I want to know ( is it or not ) !!! but if I sent a sample to every one that wants one there wont be any thing left ! Two responses think it might be man made one thinks its a rear rock formation 4 want to buy it for a undetermined amount but will not a identify it . and I will not set a price until I know . If it is a meteorite it could be one of a kind through some freak accident or material composition it made it through and served the impact .I'm sending a pick of the chipped section to see if that helps. Things of inserts :: has on magnetite properties that I can tell:: shows rust :: heavier than a rock of its size :: will chip like a rock :: has a crust .........I think ? I doubt it's man made I found it when I was about 6 years old 75 miles out in the desert with my older brother ( a rock hound ) about 10 miles from an Indian site he found in Nevada in the 50' No civilization had ever been there that I know of .
- IF it's meteorite it must be very valuable
- IF it's a rock it's very rear
- IF it's not identified it's a great paper weight
